NIKOLAI AARRE
Acrylic bench, 2021
This bench started from a fascination for joints. How do materials connect seamlessly, without glue, screws or bolts? This led to an obsession with carpentry techniques, especially those used in Japanese architecture, a craft that enhances the natural beauty of the material and exaggerates the construction parts, the tension points.
The bench was made in acrylic to highlight the simple joints. Because of its almost invisible material it appears as a soft technical drawing in the air.
